When
the innate healing capacity of the body is supported and assisted
by the directed power of the will, through positive thought, physical,
psychological and cognitive change happens, sometimes quickly and
radically, but usually gradually and slowly.
The restorative postures put the body, brain and entire nervous system into a deep state of receptivity. We can then effectively send positive suggestions and images that penetrate the conscious, subconscious and unconscious levels of the mind.
(open
to everyone, no prior yoga experience required)

This gentle but effective approach to asana practice can enhance our flexibility, provide an ease of movement and improve posture, bring increased vitality and health to the organs of our body.
Through prolonged positions (predominantly seated forward bends) held for three to five minutes or more, without muscular effort, Yin yoga asanas specifically target the deep connective tissue in the body (especially in the legs, hips, pelvis and low back).
While many "styles" of yoga practice promote strengthening and stretching of muscles, a complementary Yin style practice addresses the need for strength and elasticity in the connective tissues of the body (tendons, ligaments and fascia) for optimum health and function.
When the body is slowly encouraged to release and relax through the assistance of gravity, the mind becomes quiet, still and peaceful, allowing the student to experience their own inner nature.
*Not recommended for students currently experiencing low back problems/pain.
