Forward Bends: Surrender and Support

Forward Bends, when practiced correctly, help us learn patience, gentleness and the capacity to let go. Physiologically they stretch the structures of the back body, stimulate digestion and elimination, calm the nervous system and support reproductive health.

We'll learn and practice general principles applicable to all forward bends and also compare the differences between symmetrical vs. assymetrical forward bends and between standing, seated and supine postures. We will look at common difficulties that can arise with the practice of these postures and how to use props and modify position to accommodate individual needs.
