Private Sessions

Joyce Anue MS, PT

In her private practice, Joyce uses a unique blend of manual medicine and therapeutic exercise to help her clients and students experience optimum health and return to pain free, easeful movement. As a yoga therapist, Joyce uses an even broader range of tools to help the individual experience optimal health at all levels physical, mental and psychosocial. For more information on Yoga Therapy...

Joyce uses her gifts as a teacher and physical therapist who specializes in using movement, mindfulness and hands-on therapy to help her clients and students gain insight into themselves, their habits of posture and movement as well as life style choices and belief systems that effect health and well-being.

Subconscious patterns of posture and movement that can strain the body and lead to pain of dysfunction are brought to attention and new choices are explored and implemented. Although her work is especially effective for joint pain (knee, hip and shoulder), whiplash, back & neck pain, tendonitis, and other musculoskeletal problems, through her multifaceted approach, Joyce addresses the needs of the whole person.

Therapeutic Exercise

  • Postural and Movement Reeducation
  • Core and Extremity Strengthening
  • Neck and Back Stabilization Techniques
  • Flexibility Exercises (specific to your needs)
  • Yoga Postures, Breathing and Relaxation Techniques

Manual Medicine refers to the application of hands-on techniques designed to assess and treat pain and dysfunction. Because the end result of healthy movement involves the integrated function of the nerves, muscles, joints and bones, approaches that can address all these systems are often necessary and of greatest benefit. Joyce has extensive training in and experience using the following techniques:

  • Craniosacral Therapy
  • Strain/Counterstrain Technique
  • Myofascial Release
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Polarity Therapy
  • Spinal and Joint Mobilization

Improve your Posture (why?)

  • Build your stamina and endurance
  • Enhance your flexibility
  • Learn how to personalize your yoga practice based on your
    unique needs
  • Learn gentle movements that can help to release subconscious
muscular reflexes that can lead to pain, inflammation and
    degenerative conditions such as arthritis
