Joyce
Anue MS, PT is the director and founder of YES Yoga Educational
Seminars. She is also the primary instructor for the YES Yoga Teacher
Training Program.
Joyce has been studying and practicing yoga for over 18 years. Strongly
influenced by her work with BKS Iyengar and several of his senior
teachers (including Ramanand Patel and Kofi Busia), Joyce received
her Iyengar teaching certification in 1988. She is also a long time
student of Vipassana meditation as taught in the tradition of S.N.
Goenka. Joyce has worked with Joseph LePage and has been on the
teaching faculty of the Integrative Yoga Therapy Introductory and
Advanced Teacher Training Programs since 1996.
Currently, Joyce is inspired by the work of TKV Desikachar in the
Viniyoga Tradition. Joyce holds a Bachelor's degree in Exercise
Physiology and Rehabilitation and a Master's degree in Physical
Therapy. She has taught yoga to individuals and groups in hospitals,
rehab centers, universities, corporations and recreation departments
across the country. Her workshops and classes for students with
back pain and other orthopedic challenges are helpful and informative
to both beginners and continuing students alike.
Joyce's mechanical understanding of the body is complemented by
her empathy and keen intuition. With 20 years experience in manual
therapy (Joyce is certified in Massage, Polarity, Craniosacral Therapy,
Aquatic Rehab and Reiki), she also brings to her students and clients
a sensitive, skilled and caring hand-on approach.
Besides her expertise in the therapeutic applications of yoga, Joyce
is probably best known for her infectious and unforgettable laugh.
Joyce teaches in a style uniquely her own. Humor, the development
of mindfulness, compassion, and self inquiry are all elements used
to deepen the students' experience of self.
